This is an approved list of the parts of the rail system that fall outside the scope of the Railways (Interoperability) Regulations 2011 in the UK. The list is kept by the Department for Transport in accordance with Regulation 3 of the Railways (Interoperability) Regulations 2011.

  1. Added The Grand Hibernian to Exclusions section.

  2. Updated with additions of reference to the new infrastructure manager in Wales, a new range of shunter vehicles, 2 tourist trains plus a change in classification of infrastructure from a heritage line to a line reserved for strictly local use.

  3. West Midlands Metro extensions, Edinburgh Tram, Greater Manchester Metrolink extensions, and Nottingham Express Transit extensions marked as proposed have now been constructed. The Cross River Tram has been cancelled.
