Details

Brexit may result in restricted supplies of radioactive materials (including both sealed and unsealed sources). This Brexit regulatory position statement (Brexit RPS) will allow you to exceed the numerical limits in your permit if:

  • you anticipate that you will not be able to obtain your regular supplies and want to obtain additional stocks whilst these are available, or
  • routine supplies are not available and you have to obtain alternatives

You can also exceed the limits in your permit for radioactive waste, but only if it has resulted from the additional materials.

You can only carry out additional disposal to the sewer if you are the operator of a hospital carrying out medical treatments or tests. Your Radioactive Waste Adviser will need to send us a radiological assessment to show that these disposals will not have an impact on human health.

You must continue to comply with the other requirements in your permit and the conditions in this Brexit RPS.

You must tell the Environment Agency before you use this Brexit RPS using the contact details provided in the document.

This Brexit RPS will expire on 30 April 2020. After this date you must comply with your permit.
