Details

The Employment and Health Discussion involves a conversation between an unemployed Universal Credit Health Journey customer and an Employment and Health Practitioner. The purpose of the discussion is to identify the range of barriers impacting the customer’s ability to work and appropriate solutions to these which are then documented in a Workability Action Plan.

The Employment and Health Discussion has been tested on a small scale in select Jobcentre Plus’. This type of test is known as a Proof of Concept.

The report summarises findings from an evaluation of the Proof of Concept, which specifically explores how the Employment and Health Discussion was delivered in practice and what is perceived to work well or less well.

Research value

The evidence from this research will feed into ongoing policy development of employment support initiatives for disabled people and people with health conditions in line with the Pathways to Work: Reforming Benefits and Support to Get Britain Working Green Paper.
