Evaluation of provider-level TEF 2016 to 2017 (year 2)

This research report evaluates the initial impact of the Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF) on the higher education landscape.

The Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF) was recently introduced to assess teaching quality and student outcomes across undergraduate higher education (HE) in the UK, with a view to driving up quality, and ensuring applicants have the information they need to make informed choices.

This report identifies how the TEF performed in its initial provider-level phase, with both HE providers and applicants to HE. It identifies the emerging impact of TEF against its longer-term aims and informs DfE and OfS work to continuously improve its delivery.
