1. Latest information on coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Department for Education has published guidance about COVID-19 in educational settings for staff, parents and carers, pupils and students on GOV.UK.

Please check GOV.UK regularly for updates.

2. Information: Academies Accounts Direction 2019 to 2020 published

We have published the Academies Accounts Direction 2019 to 2020. This is the reference pack for you and your auditors to use when preparing and auditing your trust’s annual report and financial statements. Compliance with the Accounts Direction is a condition of your funding agreement.

Pages 4 and 5 outline the changes from last year. The most significant change is a new requirement for qualifying trusts to publish information about their energy efficiency and consumption in their trustees’ report. To support you with compliance and to help you understand how you are affected by this new requirement we have published a good practice guide on streamlined energy and carbon reporting.

Next month we will publish a supplementary bulletin to the Accounts Direction to cover reporting of COVID-19 activities in your accounts. This bulletin will have the same status as the Accounts Direction and contain additional requirements as well as guidance.

You will need to submit your audited financial statements and management letter for 2019 to 2020 to ESFA four months after your accounting period. For most academy trusts, this will be by 31 December 2020.

Information about how to submit your financial statements will follow.

3. Information: T Levels – 2022 providers and criteria to deliver T Levels in 2023

We have announced the providers selected to deliver T Levels from September 2022.

We have also announced the criteria that providers wishing to deliver T Levels in 2023 must meet. This will open up delivery to significantly more providers as T Levels become more widely available as a technical education route.

We will confirm the process for providers to register their wish to take part in 2023 delivery in January 2021.
