FOI release

Environment Agency's position on publishing FOI/EIR responses on the GOV.UK website

Published 1 April 2014

Applies to England

Publishing customer replies

The Environment Agency (EA) website closed in April 2014 and the content moved to the GOV.UK website at www.gov.uk/environment-agency.

The GOV.UK website has the option to publish replies to requests for information, giving customers the chance to check previous responses before making a new request. This feature was never offered on the previous EA website. As the EA receive thousands of requests for information every year, many of which are very specific and rarely repeated requests, the Environment Agency have decided not to publish previous replies to GOV.UK.

The Environment Agency will review this position. They may publish replies if there are lots of similar, repeated requests. The EA analyse the requests and will try to improve information provided online where this helps lots of customers avoid the need to make FOI or EIR requests for information.

Sources of information

The publication scheme page describes the types of information available from the Environment Agency and explains how to access it. This may help you get the information you need more quickly, without making a formal request.

Information about data protection is provided on the personal information charter page.
