The map shows the stretches and provisional timings for improving coastal access in the west of England. Use the links in the table below to find out more information about each stretch.

  1. Map and table updated as the approval for Kimmeridge to Highcliffe Chapter 6 has been quashed by High Court Order. Chapter 6 is therefore yet to be determined.

  2. Map and table updated to show that the Lulworth Cove to Kimmeridge Bay stretch is now approved and 2 further sections of the Kimmeridge Bay to Highcliffe stretch are now open to the public.

  3. Map and table updated to show the final section (Southbourne to Mudeford Quay) of the Kimmeridge Bay to Highcliffe stretch has been approved.

  4. Map and table updated to show that part of the Lyme Regis to Rufus Castle stretch has been approved.

  5. Map and table updated as the proposals for Lulworth Cove to Kimmeridge Bay have now been published.

  6. Map and table updated as part of the Kimmeridge Bay to Highcliffe stretch is now open to the public.

  7. Map and table updated to show the final Aust to Brean Down stretch (Wain’s Hill, Clevedon to Beach Road car park (Sand Bay)) has been approved. Work on this stretch is now at stage 5.

  8. Map and table updated to show a further section of the Aust to Brean Down stretch is now open to the public.

  9. Map and table updated as approval for Chapter 6 of the Kimmeridge to Highcliffe stretch report has been quashed by High Court Order. This stretch reverts to stage 4/5, partially approved.

  10. Map and table updated as another section of the Aust to Brean Down stretch (ABD1) has been approved.

  11. Map and table updated to show that part of the Aust to Brean Down stretch is now open to the public.

  12. Map and table updated to show that the Kimmeridge Bay to Highcliffe stretch has been approved.

  13. Map and table updated to show that some sections of the Aust to Brean Down stretch have been approved.

  14. Map and table updated to show that the Aust to Brean Down stretch is now at stage 4.

  15. Kimmeridge Bay to Highcliffe is now at stage 4.

  16. Replaced map with new version showing that the Brean Down to Minehead stretch is open to the public.

  17. Updated map. Work has started on the Lulworth Cove to Highcliffe stretch.
