Details

The Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) is for non-standard customers using energy provided by non-licensed suppliers where prices paid are pegged to wholesale prices. The scheme provides support on bills for energy consumed between 1 October 2022 and 31 March 2023.

Scheme expanded (April 2023)

On 1 April 2023 the government announced that support for non-standard customers under EBRS would be expanded. It will now include non-domestic customers who receive energy from license-exempt suppliers via wire or pipe, where prices paid are pegged to wholesale energy prices.

This support will cover the period 1 October 2022 until 31 March 2023.

Energy Bills Discount Scheme

The Energy Bills Discount Scheme will provide support for the period 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024.

  2. We’ve updated the guidance to reflect the changes to the scheme terms. We've added a definition of electricity produced mainly from the combustion of gas. Electricity generated from a biogas source, such as anaerobic digestion gases, is now eligible for direct financial relief under the scheme.
