The UK Advisory Panel for Healthcare Workers Living with Bloodborne Viruses (UKAP) group have compiled classifications of emergency HCWs and the risk of BBV iatrogenic transmission from HCWs to patient in an emergency response setting.

The concept of the exposure prone environment is introduced along with a classification of emergency HCWs that facilitates the risk assessment process.
