This is an old edition of the EFA e-bulletin, so has been archived. Please view our most recent e-bulletins and web pages for up-to-date information.

1. Action: August accounts return video and webinar

Registration is open for the 2 December webinar on the accounts return. This will be a question and answer session, and you can submit questions in advance when you register.

A training video on how to complete your annual accounts returns for the 2013 to 2014 academic year is also available.

The return is due by 31 January 2015.

Education Funding Agency (EFA) has published a report on related party transactions, based on its review of all such transactions disclosed in academy trusts’ 2012 to 2013 financial statements. In the report you can find case studies and further information to help your trust comply with the requirements.

3. Information: Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) applications

You can now view the Condition Improvement Fund webinar to hear answers to questions about CIF from EFA capital experts.

Applications for CIF open today. The deadline for completed applications is 3pm on 19 December. We have published a document with screen shots showing the CIF online application to help technical and other advisers who do not have access.

The link to the online application and associated user guidance will be available shortly.

4. Information: have you logged on to the EFA Information Exchange?

We have been adding a number of features to the EFA Information Exchange and thought it would be useful to remind you of the main elements.

The Information Exchange is developing into the secure, online way of carrying out online transactions with us.

Features are still being added, but at the moment you can:

  • see an online calendar of important dates and deadlines
  • receive and upload key documents about your institution through the Document Exchange
  • access a wide variety of online forms to send information to us

These forms include the accounts submission cover, risk protection arrangements, and national non-domestic rates for academies.

Other forms include management information for the 16 to 19 Bursary Fund and Dance and Drama Awards.

If you want any help logging on to the EFA Information Exchange, please look at our support guide, which also contains an introductory video.

5. Information: changes to EduBase

The Department for Education is changing EduBase to show the relationship between sponsors/trusts and their individual academies. We will include an item in the e-bulletin by the New Year to confirm this change has happened.

In the meantime, please check and update your academy’s information on EduBase including making sure your headteacher’s name is up to date.

Please refer to the EduBase FAQs for information about how to login to your account and update your school’s record.

6. Information: children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing taskforce

The Department for Education is working with the Department of Health and NHS England on their children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing taskforce

The taskforce, which is looking at how to improve the way children’s mental health services are organised, commissioned and provided to make it easier for young people to access help and support, is keen to hear the views of people from schools, colleges, early years providers.

An online consultation asking for your views, experiences and suggestions is open until 5 December.
