Details

The education services grant (ESG) gives local authorities and academy trusts money to fund their schools’ services. In July 2016 we announced that local authorities will receive transitional ESG funding from April to August 2017 to complement the ESG funding academies will receive for the remainder of the academic year 2016 to 2017.

The allocations document gives a breakdown of how much ESG transitional grant local authorities received from April to August 2017.

The technical note explains how we calculated these allocations, and sets out the ESG transitional grant funding rates for 2017 to 2018.

More information on school funding arrangements for 2017 to 2018 is available. You can also read the written ministerial statement issued on 20 December 2016.

Information on ESG protection for academies is available in academies revenue funding allocations guidance.
