Details

The Department for Education (DfE) will provide £18 million of funding to support eligible public sector early years settings with the costs of the teachers’ pay award from September 2026.

The grant will provide funding for:

• schools (maintained and academies)
• governor-run academies and maintained nursery schools

We have published:

• a methodology document explaining how funding rates and allocations have been calculated
• a conditions of grant document setting out how the grant will be paid and the requirements local authorities must meet when distributing funding
• rates tables showing local annual authority funding rates
• a calculator tool to enable local authorities to calculate their allocation

Local authority allocations will be published in October 2026 and paid in a single payment during October 2026.
