2. Healthy forests for healthy people

In 2021 Forest Research published their research: Valuing the mental health benefits of woodlands. 

Access to trees, woods, forests and other natural environments including urban greenspace has become (since COVID) even more important for individuals to support and maintain their well-being. This Research Report is the first attempt to estimate the mental health benefits associated with the UK’s woodlands using an avoided costs approach, by valuing woodland through the reduced prevalence of mental illness.
