The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010 from Tata Steel UK Limited, to include an existing handling and treatment of oily mill scale operation which is a hazardous waste activity within the permit.

The application is part of the statutory review of permits in the Metals Sector following the publication of the Iron and Steel Production BAT conclusions on 8th March 2012.
