It adds to the Department for Transport’s (DfT) evidence base on the experiences, barriers, challenges and enablers for disabled users and non-users when travelling by train or considering doing so.

The research involved:

  • a review of existing evidence
  • 60 interviews with disabled rail users and non-users
  • 10 accompanied journeys with disabled users of rail

Fieldwork took place between October and November 2024. Verian carried out this research on behalf of DfT.
