This direction requires the council to co-operate with a commissioner appointed by the Secretary of State for Education.
It follows publication of a report by Ofsted on 16 May 2018 that judged the overall effectiveness of Surrey’s children’s social care services as inadequate.
This direction has closed and a direction issued by DfE on 31 October 2018 replaces it.
