DfE Update academies: 1 October 2025
Published 1 October 2025
Applies to England
1. Information: Change to the 16 to 19 funded large programme uplift for academic year 2026 to 2027
We have changed the large programme uplift for academic year 2026 to 2027 to focus the uplift on maths and high value A level programmes to support the progression of students into priority sectors.
2. Information: Pupil premium allocations for financial year 2025 to 2026 – quarter 2 update
We have published the quarter 2 update for the pupil premium allocations for financial year 2025 to 2026.
We will make these payments to academies on 8 October 2025.
As previously communicated, we have introduced a new approach to the way we provide pupil premium allocations to academy trusts.
We have uploaded a statement to Document exchange for each academy trust showing the unsuppressed pupil premium allocations for the academies in each trust.
Statements can be viewed and downloaded from the ‘Documents received’ section when signing in to Document exchange with your academy trust UKPRN account details in DfE Sign-in.
If you have any questions, please contact us.
3. Your feedback: Invitation to access and feedback on Department for Education’s new estate management service
We are launching a new online platform called Manage Your Education Estate.
This user-friendly service will help responsible bodies manage school and college estates by bringing together existing tools, guidance, and resources from GOV.UK into one central location.
You are invited to join a private group of early users who will get first access to the service.
Over the coming months, you will be able to use it as part of your normal work and we’d love to get some feedback from you, to help improve it before a wider rollout.
Feedback is optional and may include short surveys, follow-up sessions with researchers, or testing new features.
At this time, we are looking for people who work in SATs or MATs at a responsible body level, are involved in estates management, and are happy to share honest feedback.
If you are interested, complete the sign-up form and we will be in touch with more details.
