Details

The position

NHSBT is responsible for the provision of a reliable, efficient supply of blood to hospitals in England and North Wales, and associated services to the wider NHS. It is also the organ donation organisation for the UK and is responsible for matching and allocating donated organs.

NHSBT provides the NHS with a range of products and services for the direct benefit of patients. In delivering its responsibilities, NHSBT maintains relationships with its many altruistic donors and a variety of NHS customers, as well as managing complex supply chains.

The Non Executive Director of NHSBT will need to demonstrate:

  • effectiveness of working at board level or equivalent
  • knowledge and understanding of manufacturing and industrial processes, and supply chain management and distribution
  • have the ability to address high profile, complex and sensitive scientific and human issues

Time and pay

The Non Executive Director will receive remuneration of £7,883 per annum for a time commitment of approximately 2 to 3 days per month.

The Secretary of State for Health determines the length of appointment, which will be for up to a maximum of 4 years.
