Department of Health's post implementation review commitments

Sets out the Department of Health's commitments to review regulations and evaluate any legislative measures after implementation.

A post implementation review will:

  • establish if our regulatory interventions are delivering the intended outcomes
  • identify any unintended consequences
  • re-evaluate our estimates of the costs and benefits
  • make sure these accurately reflect the impacts to business and society

The Department of Health is responsible for important areas of public protection, including patient safety in hospitals and care homes. Many of its regulations are fundamental to protecting patients and the public by making sure essential standards are maintained.
