Our single departmental plan sets out our objectives and how we will achieve them.

The headline indicators are used to demonstrate our progress against the strategic objectives. The technical annex shows how each of the department’s headline indicators is calculated.

  1. Added 2018 to 2019 data for the percentage of spend that is allocated to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and updated the figures for 2016 to 2017 and 2017 to 2018.

  2. Published most recent data on: Overall UK employment rate; Young people (aged 18 to 24) not in full-time education in employment; Children living in workless households; Number of employed disabled people; Eligible employees in a pension scheme sponsored by their employer; Total pensions savings of eligible savers; Customer and claimant opinion of departmental services; New claims processed within planned timescales; Proportion of Universal Credit new claims that were paid (full payment in time). Changed the date that the 2018 to 2019 data on the percentage of spend that is allocated to small and medium-sized enterprises will be available.

  3. Updated lead ministers. Will Quince is now joint lead minister for objective 1. Baroness Stedman-Scott is joint lead minister for objective 4. Guy Opperman and Justin Tomlinson are joint lead ministers for objective 5. Justin Tomlinson has replaced Mims Davies as lead minister for objective 6. Changed date that the percentage of spend that is allocated to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises for 2018 to 2019 will be available from August 2019 to autumn 2019.

  4. Updated the following performance data in the Department for Work and Pensions single departmental plan: overall UK employment rate, young people (18-24) not in full-time education in employment, children living in workless households, number of employed disabled people and proportion of Universal Credit new claims that were paid (full payment in time).

  5. Updated Secretary of State details.

  6. Updated leads for each objective following ministerial changes in July 2019.

  7. Updated net loss due to fraud and error as a percentage of overall benefit expenditure in the single departmental plan (section 5) and indicator 11 in the headline indicators technical detail.

  17. Added technical annex showing how DWP calculates the headline indicators that demonstrate progress against its strategic objectives.
