This strategy explains Defra’s vision for evaluation and how it will use evaluation between 2026 and 2030 to improve decisions and outcomes. 

It builds on the first evaluation strategy, which is available on the UK Government Web Archive.

It addresses key challenges and sets out how we will improve capability, strengthen evaluation design, and maximise learning across the department.
