Those in charge of all boats in this vicinity must conform with these directions and with any special directions which, at the discretion of a Harbourmaster, may be required in particular circumstances during these dates.

While the Henley Royal Regatta course is being dismantled, the following restrictions apply to all boats navigating between Henley Bridge and the downstream end of Temple Island (except from 7am on Friday 7 July to 6pm on Saturday 8 July, between 8am and 3pm on Sunday 9 July and from 9am on Friday 14 to 6pm on Sunday 16 July).

All boats travelling downstream must navigate within the regatta course booms from the regatta finish to the barrier.

All boats travelling upstream must navigate on the right or Buckinghamshire/Fawley side of the regatta course.

Any boat can cross the course from one side of the river to the other provided they do not obstruct other boats or impede the regatta being held on the 7 and 8 July or the swim event on Sunday 9 July.

No boats can moor within the regatta course, to the bank in the area known as The Narrows or to the adjacent regatta course booms (The Narrows is indicated with an X on the map below).

No boats can moor unattended to the regatta course booms, piles or boxes.

During the dismantling of the regatta course please take particular care when passing through the reach.

Exceptions

On Friday 7 and Saturday 8 July the Henley Masters Regatta is being held, on Sunday 9 July the Henley Mile Swim is being held and the regatta course will be closed to all boats except participants.

On Friday 14, Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 July the navigation channel for boats travelling both up and downstream will be along the regatta course on the left or Berks/Remenham side of the river as the Thames Traditional Boat Festival will be taking place on the right or Bucks/Fawley side of the regatta course.

It is an offence to fail to conform with the directions in this notice or to obstruct an officer of the Environment Agency in the execution of their duty or to fail to obey directions given regarding the navigation, mooring or unmooring of any boat.

The regatta course including all of the piles, booms and boxes are the property of Henley Royal Regatta. The Regatta may choose to take civil action against any person who causes damage to their structures.

Byelaws

Nothing contained in these directions shall supersede those parts of the Thames Navigation Licensing and General Byelaws 1993 as may be relevant.

And Notice is hereby given, that it is provided by Byelaw 52 of the Thames Navigation Licensing and General Byelaws, 1993 that:

The master of any vessel shall except in an emergency not pass any boat-race regatta public procession or gathering for the launch of a vessel or any other event or function which may cause a crowd to assemble on or by the river nor station his vessel thereon in such a manner as would risk obstructing impeding or interfering with such boat-race regatta procession launching event or function or endangering the safety of persons assembling on the river or preventing or interfering with the maintenance of order thereon. The maximum penalty for breach of the Byelaws is £1,000.
