The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from MEG Derby Limited.

EPR Section 6.8 Part A(1) (d) (ii) – Treating and processing materials intended for the production of food products from vegetable raw materials at plant with a finished product production capacity of more than 300 tonnes per day. The site will produce soft drinks, mineral water and spring water.
This site will carry out the following operations:
- Storage of raw materials for the manufacture of soft drinks including liquified carbon dioxide and nitrogen, granulated sugar and also storage of finished products.
- The production of soft drinks and spring/mineral water in 4 production lines with maximum capacity of 32,000 bottles per hour per line.
- Abstraction of water from 4 groundwater boreholes (MD/028/0034/002) and subsequent treatment for use in the production of soft drinks, spring/mineral water.
- Discharges to surface water and sewer.
- Discharge to air from combustion plant.
