Interministerial Group for Safety, Security and Migration Communiqué: 25 March 2026

The Interministerial Group (IMG) for Safety, Security and Migration met via videoconference on Wednesday 25 March 2026.

The meeting was chaired by the Home Office Lords Minister, the Rt Hon Lord Hanson of Flint.

The Ministers in attendance were:

  • From the Home Office: Mike Tapp MP, Minister for Migration and Citizenship.

  • From the Welsh Government: Jane Hutt CBE MS, Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Trefnydd and Chief Whip.

  • From the Scottish Government: Siobhian Brown MSP, Minister for Victims and Community Safety.

  • From the Northern Ireland Executive: Aisling Reilly MLA, Executive Office Junior Minister, and, Joanne Bunting MLA, Executive Office Junior Minister.

In the IMG, Ministers engaged in a dialogue across the core themes of the group, including lessons identified from public disorder (safety); the new UK Fraud Strategy (security); and, the recent earned settlement consultation (migration).

All Ministers agreed the importance of continuing to work closely together on these areas to ensure successful delivery for citizens across the whole of the UK.

A date for the next meeting of the Home Office IMG is to be agreed across the four governments.
