The Environment Agency has received an application to vary (change) an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from Birch Airfield Composting Services Ltd.
The proposed variation changes a standard rules permit into a bespoke permit

Birch Airfield Composting Services Limited possess an environment permit, reference EPR/HP3294NJ to operate an Open Windrow Composting (OWC) treatment facility under SR2021 No1 (previously SR2012 No8) and is permitted as a Part A(1) installation to treat up to 75,000 tonnes per year. Section 5.4 (a)(i) and (b)(i) - non-hazardous waste installation – biological treatment.
Birch Airfield Composting Services Limited is seeking to vary their SR2021 No1 (previously SR2012 No 8) Standard Rules permit currently held to a Bespoke Installation permit to allow for the acceptance onto site and subsequent physical treatment of inert soils under the following activity: Physical treatment for recovery of Non-Hazardous Waste: conditioning and screening of imported soil wastes.
