The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from Essex County Council.

Application to operate a landfill gas combustion plant and equipment within a compound located near to their Bellhouse Landfill Site. The purpose of the plant and equipment is to provide environmental control for the landfill gas generated from the Bellhouse Landfill Site. The proposed plant and equipment comprise a landfill gas engine/s, which shall be used for the generation of electricity that will be supplied to the National Grid, and a high temperature flare for the safe combustion of landfill gas during engine downtime; and the associated plant items including gas booster, oil tanks, transformers, connecting pipework, cabling and control systems.
