This response outlines the Competition and Markets Authority’s (CMA) views on the benefits of European Commission (EC) member state competition authorities (NCAs) being empowered to effectively enforce competition across Europe.

The CMA supports the European Competition Network’s work in this area to date, but considers that further steps in certain areas could be taken to ensure that NCAs across Europe can support cross-border competition and commerce effectively.

Any future proposals for further action following the EC’s consultation would need to be considered separately.
