CMA letter to government in relation to private parking

Letter sent by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Details

The CMA has written to the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Minister for Devolution, Faith and Communities setting out its recommendations for the private parking sector.

The CMA is taking action to improve the experience of UK drivers when they deal with private parking operators to help ensure they are treated fairly when they receive and challenge parking charges.

We have particular concerns about the potentially unfair practices of some operators – including the way operators handle appeals and attempt to recover additional fees on top of the parking charge.
