The Great British high street is about so much more than shops, it’s a place for communities to come together and celebrate their place, which is why the government is keen to see vibrant and sustainable high streets and town centres.

The government wants to make it easier for local areas to celebrate their high streets. This includes through community events, be it a high street party, a concert or a different type of event.

This guidance is for individuals or organisations, on what you need to do in order to close your high street for a special event.
