Details

The ‘deep dive’ self-assessment tools help local public health bodies take a more in-depth look at important areas of their tobacco control work.

Local organisations can also use the Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) local toolkit to demonstrate the scale of the harm caused by tobacco use and the contribution this makes to health inequalities.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Tobacco return on investment tool can be used by commissioners and policy makers to evaluate a portfolio of tobacco control interventions, and models the economic returns that can be expected in different payback timescales.

Public Health England (PHE) provides support and training for local public health organisations to undertake the assessments. Please contact CLeaRTobaccoTeam@phe.gov.uk for more information.

The CLeaR model handbook can also be downloaded online.
