This publication analyses the characteristics of children whose social care assessments recorded that they had been affected by child sexual abuse or sexual exploitation.
It also:
- analyses those children’s journeys through social care
- makes comparisons to police recorded crime data
- analyses serious incident notifications data
The Department for Education commissioned this in response to the national audit on group-based child sexual exploitation and abuse.
It forms part of the government’s response to recommendation 9.
