Completed applications

Ofsted aims to complete most applications to register as a childminder or home childcarer within 12 weeks, but there will always be a proportion that fall outside this timescale.

For example, because

  • there is a delay in receiving the information required from other agencies, such as criminal record checks, local authority information
  • the information from these checks gives Ofsted a cause for concern that requires investigation
