Changes to the delivery of SIA licence-linked training

Guidance for training providers: what you need to know if you will be delivering SIA licence-linked training after 1 April 2021.

  1. Amended the 'Details' section to make it clear that more changes happened in 2025 and 2026. Added information about close protection refresher training in time for its mandatory introduction on 1 April 2026.

  2. Added a new section ('Refresher training').

  3. Updated questions 2.2, 2.3 and 2.5 to include details about the close protection top-up training.

  4. Updated question 1.12; added new questions 1.13, 1.14, 1.15, 1.16, 3.3 and 3.4.

  5. Re-numbered question 1.2 to 1.3; added new question 1.2; updated questions 1.7 and 1.12.

  6. Updated the answer to question 1.11 (Do we need to film practical assessments? If so, how long must we keep the digital content?).

  7. Updated in response to points raised during our recent webinars. The answers to questions 1.1, 2.3, 2.5, 3.1 and 3.2 have been amended accordingly.

In 2021 and 2022 we made changes to the training applicants need to take before they can get a front line SIA licence. We made further changes in 2025 and 2026.
