This document (reference: IA 6011) examines the impact of changes to regulations for Care Quality Commission (CQC) registration.

Under the Health and Social Care Act 2008, Care Quality Commission (CQC) operates a regulatory framework that aims to be coherent, proportionate to risk, and cost effective.  A review identified areas where the regulatory framework can be recast to reduce regulatory burdens, to increase consistency and to improve clarity and promotes a fairer playing field for providers. This will allow CQC to be more focused on where it can address the greatest risks to patients and people who use services.
