This document contains the following information: Central Government supply estimates 2008 to 2009: winter supplementary estimates (for the year ending 31 March 2009).

Supply estimates are the means by which the Government seeks from Parliament sufficient funds and fresh parliamentary authority for the bulk of its own expenditure each year.

In the course of the year, the Government may need to ask Parliament for additional resources and/or cash, and there are up to three occasions for presenting Supplementary Estimates to the House of Commons: in June (Summer), November (Winter), February (Spring).

This paper was laid before Parliament in response to a legislative requirement or as a Return to an Address and was ordered to be printed by the House of Commons.
