  1. 29 February 2024

     Operators of zero emission buses (ZEBs) weighing up to 5 tonnes can now claim a ZEB incentive without a ZEB certificate or summary sheet.

  2. 23 October 2023

     Updated to reflect that for claims from 1 July 2023 to 31 March 2025, a 60% uplift will be applied to BSOG claims from Community Transport Operators operating services under a section 19 permit.

  3. 6 July 2023

     ZEB claims information, including ZEB claims from 1 April 2023, added.

  4. 31 March 2022

     Updated to reflect the eligibility requirements for the new zero emission bus incentive, which operators will be eligible to claim for from 1 April 2022.

Details

The Bus Service Operators Grant (BSOG) is a discretionary grant paid to eligible transport operators to help them recover some of their fuel costs.

This guidance contains information on how community transport operators can apply, the conditions for eligibility and current rates.

Complete and return the application form with any relevant supporting documentation to bsog@dft.gov.uk.
