The role of the BSL Advisory Board is to advise the government on:
- matters of importance to Deaf and Deafblind people
- the implementation of the BSL Act
From March 2023 to December 2025, the board was made up of 17 members – mostly BSL users – co-chaired by Craig Crowley MBE FRSA and a senior civil servant.
Sub-groups of the board focused on 5 specific issues:
- education
- health and social care
- communication
- technology
- issues faced by Deafblind people
