This guidance is for clinical staff in NHS breast screening services. It includes (but is not limited to) information on:

  • applying IR(ME)R principles to breast screening
  • duty holder roles and responsibilities and training
  • procedures and protocols
  • justifying and authorising breast screening exposures
  • screening exposures involving carer’s and comforters
  • diagnostic reference levels (DRLs)
