Bovine TB: slaughter of cattle in Great Britain, 2016 to 2019

This report evaluates the results of TB surveillance in cattle at routine (commercial) slaughter between 2016 and 2019.

Details

This report is an update to an earlier analysis conducted by the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) in 2018 for the period 2013 to 2016.

The report includes:

  1. Slaughterhouse case submission numbers and rates.
  2. The proportion of slaughterhouse cases positive on culture.
  3. The proportion of new TB herd incidents disclosed in the slaughterhouse.
  4. Identification of test reactors in the source herd following a positive slaughterhouse case.
  5. A model to explore residual variation in detection rates of TB lesions between slaughterhouses.
