Blood products: model health certificates

Competent authorities of exporting countries should use the relevant model health certificate as a template to create a version exporters can apply for to export blood products to Great Britain, the Channel Islands or Isle of Man.

  1. Certificate GBHC501 updated.

  2. All old versions of certificates have been removed.

  3. We have updated certificate GBHC502. We have also updated the 'use from' dates for GBHC500, GBHC501, GBHC502 and GBHC503. Use from date for EU changed to 31 January 2024. Use from date for non-EU countries changed to 30 April 2024.

  4. We have added certificate GBHC501 BP-E: Blood products from equidae and updated the version history.

  5. We have added certificates GBHC500 BP: Blood products and GBHC503 BP-T : Treated blood products, and updated the version history.

  6. We have removed all EU certificates ending in E for blood products. We are currently in the process of replacing these with new certificates that can be used by all countries.   EU countries must use the new certificates from 31 October 2023. Non-EU countries can continue using certificates ending in X or start using the new certificates. We will communicate the deadline for non-EU countries switching to the new certificates in due course.

  7. Updated certificate GBHC096X. Updated version history with details of the change, and added that the previous version of the certificate will be accepted until 9 July 2023.

  8. The previous version of certificates GBHC095X, GBHC095E, GBHC096X, GBHC096E, GBHC097X, and GBHC097E can be accepted until 1 June 2023.

  9. Updated certificates GBHC095E, GBHC095X, GBHC096E, GBHC096X, GBHC097E, GBHC097X. See version history for full details of the changes.

  10. Certificates GBHC094E, GBHC095E, GBHC096E and GBHC097E should now be used from 31 December 2023. They were previously due to come into effect on 1 July 2022.

  11. We’ve updated certificates GBHC094X, GBHC095X, GBHC096X and GBHC097X.

  12. Moved model health certificate GBHC191 to the 'Other animal products: model health certificates' page: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/other-animal-products-health-certificates

  13. Added a version history of changes to model health certificates.

  14. Changed the date that some of the forms should be used to 1 July 2022.

  15. Published model health certificates for blood and blood products from New Zealand (GBHC191) and processed blood and blood products (excluding serum from equidae) for uses outside the feed chain from New Zealand (GBHC200).

  16. Uploaded blood product certificates: GBHC094E, GBHC095E, GBHC096E and GBHC097E. Updated blood product certificates: GBHC094X, GBHC095X, GBHC096X, GBHC097X.

Blood products exported to Great Britain must be accompanied by the relevant health certificate. Exporters should read the guide on how to complete a health certificate.

Certificate GBHC500

Must be used from 30 April 2024 by all countries.

Model health certificate for blood products not intended for human consumption that could be used as feed material (BP).

Certificate GBHC501

Must be used from 30 April 2024 by all countries.

Model health certificate for blood and blood products from equidae for purposes outside the feed chain (BP-E).

Certificate GBHC502

Must be used from 30 April 2024 by all countries.

Model health certificate for untreated blood products, excluding those of equidae, for the manufacture of derived products for purposes outside the feed chain for farmed animals (BP-U).

Certificate GBHC503

Must be used from 30 April 2024 by all countries.

Model health certificate for treated blood products, excluding those of equidae, for the manufacture of derived products for purposes outside the feed chain for farmed animals (BP-T).

Certificate GBHC200

Use this certificate from 21 June 2021.

Model health certificate for processed blood and blood products (excluding serum from equidae) for uses outside the feed chain from New Zealand.
