In July and August 2022, Birmingham hosted the 22nd Commonwealth Games, the largest multi-sport event to be held in England in 10 years, featuring thousands of world-class athletes and over 1.5 million spectators. 

This report sets out some of the key facts and figures, immediate impacts, memorable moments and iconic images from the Games, including:

  • sporting successes and medals won
  • Games delivery ‘firsts’ and impacts such as job creation and volunteering opportunities
  • cultural highlights
  • business and trade activity and the international reach of the Games
  • the many ways in which the Games has reached schools and communities across the West Midlands region and the UK

This report does not form part of the evaluation of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, which will report later in 2022, and in 2023.
