Measuring child development in early years (under 5s)
Report into whether teacher assessment at the end of the early years foundation stage gives a valid measure of a child's development.
The report is part of the ‘better communication research programme’. The research used data from teachers’ assessments of children starting school between 2006 and 2010.
The early years foundation stage (EYFS) sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old.
