Declaration of National Nature Reserve

Parishes of Axmouth, Combpyne Rousdon, Uplyme

County of Devon

Notice is hereby given that: 

In pursuance of section 19(1) of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 and section 35(1) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and all other powers enabling them in that behalf, Natural England has, by the Axmouth to Lyme Regis Undercliffs National Nature Reserve No.04 Declaration made on the 10th day of November 2023, declared the land referred to therein a National Nature Reserve.

The land having a total area of 142.69 hectares or thereabouts, situated in the Parishes of Combpyne Rousdon and Uplyme in the County of Devon and shown dotted black and shaded yellow on map 2 attached to the said Declaration (which land was included in the Axmouth-Lyme Regis Undercliffs National Nature Reserve No.01 Declaration made by the Nature Conservancy on the 16th day of March 1955) is no longer the subject of a nature reserve agreement and has been acquired and is held by Natural England.

The extension land having a total area of 10.41 hectares or thereabouts, situated in the Parishes of Axmouth and Combpyne Rousdon in the County of Devon and shown single hatched and shaded yellow on the maps attached to the said Declaration, has been acquired and is held by Natural England. 

The said land now having a total area of 314.00 hectares or thereabouts is being managed as a nature reserve, and Natural England is satisfied that the land is of national importance.
