Aquazoom Ltd has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006).
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the Nene White Water Centre on the River Nene at Northampton at National Grid Reference (NGR) SP 77425 59544.
The application is to abstract water all year at the following rates:

14,000 cubic metres an hour

345,600 cubic metres a day

126,144,000 cubic metres a year

At an instantaneous rate not exceeding 4,000 litres per second.
The water will be used to generate hydro-electric power (HEP) before returning to the River Nene immediately downstream at NGR SP 77412 59580.
