Aquazoom Ltd has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006).
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the River Frome at Beckington Mill, Mill Lane, Frome, BA11 6SN at National Grid Reference ST 79620 51983.
The application is to abstract water all year as follows:

14,400 cubic metres an hour

345,600 cubic metres a day

126,144,000 cubic metres a year
The water will be used for hydro-electric power production via two Aquazoom 13 vortex turbines at an existing weir bypass. All water abstracted will be returned to the River Frome 12 metres downstream of the abstraction point.
