Immigration guidance for the Canton of Aargau

Work permit applications
Work permit applications must be filed with the Amt für Migration und Integration Kanton Aargau (MIKA). The application can be submitted via email to arbeitsbewilligungen.mika@ag.ch. The processing time in the canton of Aargau is typically 6 to 8 weeks.
Working for a Swiss branch of a UK based company
If you are transferring to the Swiss branch of a UK-based company, or working for a Swiss company on a Swiss employment contract, your employer will need to submit an A1330 form (on the Aargau Canton website). The form is only available in German.
The form asks for:
- employer information (name, industry, address, contact person, phone, email, employer invoicing details)
- personal information of the applicant (name, date of birth, address, nationality, gender, marital status)
- previous residence permit details (if applicable)
- employment details (including, type of employment (new entry, long-term, short-term), employment start and end dates, weekly working hours, and salary details)
- previous employment in Switzerland (if applicable)
- job market compliance (information regarding job market regulations, including the obligation to report job vacancies for professions with unemployment rates over 5%)
- required documentation to support the application (employment contract, passport copy and proof of job search efforts)
In addition to the required form you will need to provide copies of your:
- employment contract
- passport
- criminal record
- CV
- relevant qualifications
Providing services to a client in Switzerland
If you will be providing services to a client in Switzerland, your UK-based employer will need to submit an A0940 form (on the Aargau Canton website). The form is only available in German.
The form asks for:
- employer information (company name, industry, address, contact person, phone, email, ZEMIS number and billing address in Switzerland.
- project or internal assignment details (Swiss client information, including address and contact details, nature of the assignment, duration, and work location)
- employee information (full name, gender, date and place of birth, nationality, address, marital status, ZEMIS number, parent names and intended residence in Switzerland)
- confirmation of employment
In addition to the forms you will need to submit copies of your:
- detailed written justification for the application
- employment contract
- assignment letter
- completed salary declaration form (on the Aargau Canton website)
- proof of local salary standards
- CV
- relevant qualifications
- passport
- criminal record check (not older than 3 months)
Additional documents may be requested.
