Antimicrobial consumption data: validation protocol for NHS acute trusts

Acute NHS trusts are asked to validate their antibiotic prescribing data using this Public Health England (PHE) validation protocol.

Details

The protocol aims to:

  • validate antimicrobial consumption data and develop a standardised reporting output for acute NHS trusts in England
  • determine which antibiotics can be accurately measured using current surveillance systems
  • utilise this data to improve the information systems currently in operation
  • utilise this data to determine antibiotic quality measures for each acute NHS trust
