Details of the application

Aggregate Industries UK Limited have applied to the Environment Agency to vary a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number 15/47/002/G/023, which authorises abstraction of water from the underground strata comprising limestone at Moorcroft Quarry, Billacombe Road, Plymstock, Devon.

The current licensed quantities are as follows:

  • Mineral washing: 160 m³/hour, 1,978 m³/day and 465,632 m³/year

  • Concrete production: 160 m³/hour, 1,978 m³/day and 27,390 m³/year

  • Dust suppression: 160 m3/hour, 1,978 m³/day and 27,390 m³/year

  • Wheel wash: 160 m3/hour, 1,978 m³/day and 27,390 m³/year

The aggregate quantity to be abstracted for all purposes shall not exceed 160 m³/hour, and 1,978 m³/day.

The variation applied for is to amend the above quantities to the following:

  • Mineral washing: 400 m³/hour, 4,800 m³/day and 1,200,000 m³/year

  • Concrete production: 10 m³/hour, 100 m³/day and 25,000 m³/year

  • Dust suppression: 5 m³/hour, 60 m³/day and 15,000 m³/year

  • Wheel wash: 10 m³/hour, 240 m³/day and 60,000 m³/year
