February 2019: Television Advertisement for Solpadeine Max (Paracetamol and Codeine) by Omega Pharma Limited

Updated 11 June 2019

A healthcare professional and a member of the public complained about an advertisement for Solpadeine Max which was broadcast on television in June 2018 on UK Channel 4. The complainants alleged that there was no warning about the potential dangers for addiction and that the product should not be taken for more than three days.

MHRA did not uphold the complaint. The advertisement seen by MHRA contained the wording ‘Contains Codeine. Can cause addiction. Use for 3 days only. Always read the label.’ in accordance with guidance agreed with the Proprietary Association of Great Britain.
