20 December 2016 - Nytol Television Advertisement

Published 18 January 2017

An individual complained about a television advertisement for Nytol produced by Omega Pharma and broadcast on the National Geographic channel in June 2015. The complainant was concerned that a claim “allows you to fall into a natural sleep” in the advertisement was not appropriate because a pharmaceutical product was being used.

The MHRA upheld the complaint. Omega Pharma agreed to amend the advertisement because they did not have specific evidence to show that diphenhydramine does not affect sleep patterns.
